Vaccines and vaccine administration coding
Coding vaccines and vaccine administration appropriately ensures you receive the correct reimbursement for these services. According to CPT coding guidelines, CPT 90476-90748 vaccination products should be coded in conjunction with CPT 90465-90474 injections and other routes of administration provided with or without physician counseling.
We are seeing many instances when CPT 96372 Therapeutic, prophylactic, or diagnostic injection; subcutaneous or intramuscular is submitted in place of the appropriate administration code. Effective October 1, CPT 96372 will be denied when reported with any vaccine products in the code range of CPT 90476-90748.
