CPT 31641 deemed potentially investigational
Effective for dates of service on or after July 1, CPT 31641 Bronchoscopy, rigid or flexible, including fluoroscopic guidance, when performed; with destruction of tumor or relief of stenosis by any method other than excision (e.g., laser therapy, cryotherapy) will be reviewed as potentially investigational for cryosurgical ablation of miscellaneous solid organ and breast tumors. The Cryosurgical Ablation of Miscellaneous Solid Tumors (Surgery #132) policy has not changed. You may refer to our medical policy at http://blue.regence.com/trgmedpol/index.html. This does not apply to Medicare.
