Health and behavior assessment CPT code reminder
Health and behavior assessment codes (CPT 96150-96155) are used to identify the behavioral, cognitive, emotional, psychological and social factors related to a patient's primary medical condition. These services, which may include assessment or intervention, are billed when identification of such factors is important to the prevention, treatment or management of a physical health problem.
These codes may be billed by either medical or behavioral health professionals in 15-minute increments based on the time spent with the patient, the patient's family or a group. Please ensure these codes are billed in conjunction with International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision (ICD-9) diagnosis codes.
