Asuris committed to protecting members privacy
Protecting our members' privacy is of great importance to us. Recently we learned that some of our members received fraudulent phone calls. We immediately took steps to resolve this matter as soon as possible, including notifying law enforcement authorities.
If you receive inquiries from your clients, please assure them that we do not call members to request personal or financial information in a "cold call" style. Asuris only calls members if they elected to deduct their premium from their bank account and we require information to complete their application. In this case, the interaction would have been initiated by the member.
If a member suspects they have received a questionable phone call, they should immediately contact Asuris or their benefit administrator to report the incident. In addition, please advise them to take the following steps to protect their personal and financial information:
- Contact their local police office to open an investigation.
- Contact their bank to create a new account number and monitor their account for suspicious activity. They can also request free credit reports online to monitor their credit for possible identity theft. Be sure to use the official, centralized Web site. Doing so permits them to obtain one free report per year from each of their three credit monitoring agencies (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion).
