11/03/2010   Renew-as-is process implemented for groups of 1 to 99

We are making changes to our renewal process to deliver a better experience for groups of 1 to 99 renewing on EmbarkSM, VantageSM, MotivateSM or Asuris HSA Healthplan 2.0SM.

Beginning with Jan. 1, 2011, effective dates, we'll mark a group of 1 to 99 renewed as is to reflect the renewal benefits outlined in the renewal documents on the 1st of the month prior to the renewal month unless you've submitted benefit changes for your client prior to that date. We'll generate the bill for the renewal month around the 5th of the prior month for groups that are current on their premium payment. The bill will reflect the current benefits, including benefits impacted by the new law and the 2011 rates. For example, January groups will be renewed as is on Dec. 1 with the January bill being issued the week of Dec. 6.

So what does this mean to you?
You can still make changes to your client's benefits the month prior to their renewal. You'll simply need to submit a GMA and other required paperwork just as you do today.

Today, approximately 50% of our groups of 1 to 99 renew as is with no benefit or administrative changes. So, as long as there are no changes, you'll no longer need to submit the Renewal Confirmation form to us.

So what's the catch?
Washington State law requires that we certify employer size annually to determine a group's coverage options. Therefore, we're re-instituting the Annual Certification mailing. Today we're mailing letters to groups of 1 to 99 that are renewing for a Jan. 1, 2011, effective date. Please encourage your clients to complete the form and return it by Nov. 18 in the postage-paid envelope or by fax, (206) 332-6203.

So when will January renewals be released?
We expect January renewals to be available on Nov. 10, and we're preparing to release tentative rates if necessary.

We value our partnership with you and recognize your continued support. If you have any questions, please talk to your Asuris Sales contact.
