06/28/2010   Group benefit booklets available on myAsuris.com as standard method of distribution

Holding down costs is a top priority, and we are continuing to aggressively find ways to control administrative expenses. A significant way we can make a positive impact on this front is by printing fewer materials. By doing this, we'll also be responsible stewards of the environment and our members' dollars.

However, our members still need information to make informed decisions about their health care. Our member website, myAsuris.com, is designed to do just that without printing anything.

Benefit booklets and plan summaries are currently available online for our newer health-focused products. Members can log in at myAsuris.com to locate their specific booklet and summary under My Navigator. All they need to do is select My Account and View My Coverage and then click on View Benefits Booklet/Policy. Group administrators can access their booklet and plan summary on Employer Center by going to Resources and selecting Benefits.

Starting July 1, we will no longer automatically fulfill paper copies of the group benefit booklet for members who enroll in our newer health-focused products. Instead, we'll mail one copy of the contract and booklet per plan to the group and the producer. If you or your clients require additional copies or an electronic version of a benefit booklet or plan summary, please talk to your Asuris Sales contact.

ERISA Plan Note: If the benefit booklet is used as a component of the summary plan description and you want to investigate meeting the distribution requirement electronically, see 29 CFR §2520.104b-1(c) for the U.S. Department of Labor's electronic distribution safe harbor.
