We're changing how we determine uncommon eligibility
Effective Oct. 1, 2010, we're updating how we determine uncommon eligibility between medical and dental plans for all new and renewing groups.
Previously, we compared just the number of group members (subscribers, spouses and children, including children under age three) enrolled on the medical plan to the number of members enrolled on the dental plan. If the enrollment count wasn't the same for both medical and dental plans, the dental rates were slightly higher due to the uncommon eligibility.
Starting Oct. 1 we're comparing not only the enrollment count but the actual members enrolled. If the same members who are enrolled on the medical plan aren't also enrolled on the dental plan, then the group is determined to have uncommon eligibility, and the dental rates will be slightly higher as a result.
