04/29/2010   A guide to Asuris and health care reform: Top 10 key impacts for employers

To help your clients understand where health care reform stands today, we're identifying what we think are the top 10 impacts for both fully insured and self-funded groups. These changes are related to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. As the information continues to be revised and updated, we recommend you frequently check back for updates.

Topping this list is the grandfathering provision in response to a promise President Obama first made in August 2009 at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire: "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan." The individual or group is required to have been enrolled on their plan on the date of PPACA enactment (March 23, 2010) to qualify and other conditions must be met to qualify for this provision.

For additional information regarding a grandfathered health plan please refer to the Federal Health Care Reform Frequently Asked Questions: Grandfathered Health Insurance Plans provided by America's Health Insurance Plans (updated April 16, 2010).

For the complete list of 10 impacts, please see the Asuris guide Health Care Reform: Top 10 Key Impacts for Employers.

Additional information on health reform issues is available on federal and state websites.
