Small-group census date legislation signed into law
Governor Gregoire has signed SB 6538, which defines the census date for renewing small groups to be 90 days prior to the renewal date. The bill takes effect on Jan. 1, 2011. It amends the OIC's earlier requirement for carriers to re-rate all community groups based on their effective date census.
In accordance with the new legislation, we'll remove from our renewal cover letter and underwriting assumptions all references to the re-rate requirement. These changes will be made beginning with July 1 effective dates for small (2-50) groups.
Renewal rates previously released for April, May and June renewing groups aren't subject to re-rate based on each group's actual renewal date census.
