Changes made to domestic partner coverage for groups of 51 to 99
Washington State passed legislation (SB 5688) that requires health plans to extend to registered same-sex domestic partners and opposite-sex couples (as long as one is at least 62 years old) the same coverage they extend to legal spouses.
Groups with 51 to 99 enrolled employees on our EmbarkSM, VantageSM, MotivateSM or Asuris HSA Healthplan 2.0SM may now opt to:
- Limit domestic partner coverage only to state-registered domestic partners
- Not extend COBRA eligibility to any domestic partners whether registered or non-registered
Groups with 100 or more enrolled employees were offered this option in January.
Our Group Master Application (GMA) has been updated to reflect this option. The default option will be coverage for all domestic partners with COBRA.
If you have any questions, please talk to your Asuris Sales contact.
