Claims history used for SHQ scoring
The Washington State Health Insurance Pool (WSHIP) has
clarified that carriers may use claims history information to
score an applicant's Standard Health Questionnaire (SHQ). Any
previous Asuris member who is now completing the Standard
Health Questionnaire (SHQ) for Individual coverage may have
their recent Asuris claims history reviewed as part of the
application process. If a condition in their recent claims
history has been omitted from the SHQ, the condition may be
included for scoring purposes.
The new SHQ that comes out on Oct. 1 will make it clear that
claims history will be used during the scoring process.
