01/27/2009   OIC requests language clarifications to group contracts, brochures

We recently discussed with the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) specific language in our contracts and member brochures and the need for an explanation of that language. As a result, there are a number of language clarifications in our medical and dental plans, effective Jan. 1, 2009.

The language clarifications, as requested by the OIC, are:

  • EmbarkSM, VantageSM, MotivateSM and Asuris HSA Healthplan 2.0SM: The language clarifications will be included in Embark, Vantage and Motivate plan documents effective Feb. 1, 2009, as groups enroll or renew. However, we will administer these group plans according to these clarifications effective Jan. 1, 2009. These clarifications will apply to all groups regardless of size. Because the OIC requested these clarifications, we cannot allow any modifications to the language. The new Asuris HSA Healthplan 2.0 will also include these language clarifications effective Jan. 1, 2009. Review the summary of changes.

  • Preferred Plans, Asuris AdvanceSM, Asuris HSA Healthplan: These language clarifications will be included in Asuris Northwest Health group plan documents effective Jan. 1, 2009, as groups enroll or renew. These clarifications will apply to all groups regardless of size. Because the OIC requested these clarifications, we cannot allow any modifications to the language. Administrative Services Only (ASO) groups are encouraged to take all language clarifications. Review the summary of changes.

  • Individual plans: There are no language changes to Individual plans at this time.
