New generic allergy medications now available
We want to let you know that there are new generic medications to treat nasal allergies. These generic medications are just as safe and effective as brand-name medications, but they can save your clients money at the pharmacy. Because these new generic medications are the best values, Nasonex® and Rhinocort AQ® are no longer needed on the Regence Preferred Medication List.
Starting Jan. 1, 2009, Nasonex and Rhinocort AQ will be non-preferred medications. This means that your clients will need to pay their non-preferred copay for these medications. Generic fluticasone (Flonase®) or generic flunisolide (Nasarel®) are currently available. These are covered at the generic copay. If the generics are not an option, Nasacort AQ® is available for the preferred copay. Nasonex and Rhinocort AQ will be covered at the preferred copay through Dec. 31, 2008.
We make changes to the Preferred Medication List based on scientific evidence and by comparing medication value.
