08/20/2008   Mandates are implemented for renewing 2008 Embark and Vantage groups

We would like to tell you about some benefit language revisions that will be implemented for all groups renewing on EmbarkSM or VantageSM in November and December. We are making these changes to bring contracts into compliance with a number of 2008 mandates. New groups enrolled since January 2008 are already in compliance.

Below is a summary of changes that will be implemented:

  • We have increased the Chemical Dependency benefit to $14,000 every two calendar years.
  • We have revised the Coordination of Benefits provisions so that they more closely match the NAIC standards.
  • We have changed our Group Qualification requirements modifying the definition of small employer to reflect the federal definition. This requires a group to have employed an average of at least two but not more than 50 employees during the previous calendar year and to have employed at least two employees on the first day of the calendar year.
  • Mental Health services will now be covered at coinsurance and copay levels that are consistent with other medical and surgical coverage.
