11/06/2006 Individual rate and language changes announced for 2007
Asuris Northwest Health will notify Individual members in the middle of this month about a rate increase for DentalOne and Conversion Plan products as well as a new prostate cancer screening benefit for all medical plans.
Rate changes
You might remember that Asuris Northwest Health Individual medical plans experienced a mid-year rate decrease effective July 1, 2006. As a result, the annual rate adjustment for those medical plans is now on a July-to-July schedule. However, DentalOne and Conversion plans are still on a January-to-January rate adjustment schedule. We will announce DentalOne’s 6.2% increase and the Conversion plans’ 9.9% increase to enrolled members later this month.

Benefit change
We are adding a prostate cancer screening benefit to all medical plans as a result of the passage of Washington State Substitute Senate Bill 6188. This benefit provides cancer screening in the form of prostate-specific antigen tests (PSAs) and digital rectal exams if recommended by a physician, a physician assistant or an advanced registered nurse practitioner. Some plans already covered such services under preventive care; however, for all plans effective Jan. 1, 2007, these services will be covered under a separate benefit with no annual dollar maximum.
