10/23/2006 RegenceRx® introduces member education program
RegenceRx is excited to announce the initiation of a new member education program titled “Taking Charge of Your Cholesterol.” Designed to benefit members who are concerned with high cholesterol, it was modeled on our popular educational seminars on diabetes. The first cholesterol program will be held in Tacoma at the beginning of November and is targeted to members who are currently taking a non-formulary statin. We also plan to host seminars in Eastern Washington.
“Taking Charge of Your Cholesterol” will focus on providing practical ways to lower cholesterol through diet, exercise and medication. The featured speaker will be a local physician who will provide an informative overview of the subject, addressing questions such as:
- What is cholesterol?
- How do we know it’s linked to heart disease?
- Can I lower my cholesterol through diet and exercise?
- How effective are the different medications that control cholesterol?
A clinical pharmacist from RegenceRx will also give a brief talk about formulary options, how they were chosen, and which ones provide the best value. In addition, the pharmacist will point out the various tools found at RegenceRx.com that can help members become more involved in their own health care. These include the RxPrice Guide, ConsumerRx educational pieces, and health calculators that assess the benefits and costs of specific behaviors.
We hope that “Taking Charge of Your Cholesterol” will encourage attendees to establish a realistic cholesterol-lowering goal and work with their doctor to find the most effective way to attain it. The potential benefit is two-fold: both improving our members’ health and reducing their out-of-pocket medical expenses. These lively informational programs are just one way RegenceRx is working to improve health care.
